#Let me talk about Mystique for a moment. Okay, so you’re born. You’re born blue, that’s your true form. It doesn’t matter that you can change into another person; that’s not who you really are. Who you really are is a girl with blue skin and yellow eyes, a girl that will, without doubt, be rejected by society the moment you let yourself be seen by anyone. You finally find someone like you, someone who loves you and looks after you and understands you— but wait, that’s the problem. He doesn’t. Charles doesn’t understand you because he isn’t like you, his power is not the same, and as much as he could see in your head -which he doesn’t- how rejected you feel, he could never feel it too. He can try to understand it, he can try to imagine how it must be, but he doesn’t *live* it. So you’re actually completely alone. Until you find out you aren’t. Because there’s one boy with horrible feet that feels rejected too, even though he’s beautiful. So you go after him; but what happens? This boy tells you that you’re better being someone you actually aren’t, he tells you a perfect stranger -because the body you use isn’t *yours*- is beautiful and you could never be. And then something happens. Someone happens. Erik doesn’t tell you he understands you, because he doesn’t. He doesn’t tell you you’re normal, because he knows you aren’t. You’re better than that. You’re above everyone else. For the first time in your life, you’re perfect in someone else’s eyes. So you follow him, you do everything he asks you to, you never leave him, because he’s the only one who made you feel you belonged somewhere. And then suddenly you’re not you anymore, you turn into the kind of people you’ve been fighting against most of your life, and he leaves you. Everything you’ve been working on, every plan, every goal, every step you took, it all ends up destroyed. Your life has changed and you’re lost. You’re alone. Now please do tell me again, why are there Mystique haters in this world? Because my mind does not understand.
Oh my god, and she can’t even go back to Charles, her first friend, because he’s dead now.
