 I had a dream and it led me to the best scenario for the next movie.

You get Kirk, Spock, and McCoy on a planet alone with no way to contact the ship, and we get a million BAMF trio moments as they work to survive their environment (moar McCoy. He should get his own movie.) The crew is having to simultaneously deal with an attacking threat back on the ship (Klingons are fun) and everyone gets to shine (I wouldn’t say no to Scotty in command and having Uhura as his acting first officer. Rowr!)

Meanwhile, Spock goes through pon farr. When Kirk and McCoy finally learn what’s going on, you have Kirk very seriously pull Spock aside and offer to have sex with him. I’m not kidding: don’t play it for laughs, just play it as Kirk genuinely not wanting Spock to die. Of course it won’t happen because we as a society and the PG-13 rating are not ready for that, but it just won’t work because it has to be T’Pring.

Not only do shippers get the best material ever, but your average movie-going crowd can hide behind “just doing your bro a favor” and even think of Kirk as awesome for offering something like that.

Bonus: Kirk mentions that this isn’t the first time he’s been with the same sex. :D

The fucking scene where Kirk is in the chair and Spock says he’s happy to help out and it’s just Kirk’s face looking surprisingly pleased and adoring and jesus that’s all Shatner right there.

I will never say no to explaining Kirk/Spock lore. :D

In the TOS episode “City on the Edge of Forever”, Kirk’s love interest says to him, ‘Whatever it is, let me help.’ Kirk responds by saying that hundred years from then, an author will write a book about those words and that they mean more than ‘I love you.’ One episode later, in “Operation—Annihilate!”, Spock is bedridden and in a lot of pain, but wants to keep working despite it. Spock says ‘I have my own will Captain…let me help.’ to which Kirk responds ‘I need you, Spock.’
