Oh man, just think of the fallout, how they wouldn’t know how to behave around each other. If it’s Dean who’s unrelated, what about his love for his mom and the worship of his dad? And if it’s Sam who’s unrelated, you just know he’d blame himself for Mary’s death and ruining all their lives.

And what about everything that came before it? How are we supposed to interpret their co-dependency now?

What about that soulmate business? Before you could explain that it was only true because they were brothers, but what if they aren’t?

I mean, how many fangirls do you think would start shipping it? How many would stop talking about how disgusting it is?

Suddenly you have to go back and go over all the eyebrow-raising moments and realize that everything is now infused with homoeroticism.

 But then again I sort of don’t want that because the incest makes it hotter.

Yep 6, but think about it: 50 years ago it was 1961 and we still had segregated schools in the south, homosexuals were equated with child molesters, and it was a social stigma for women to have good jobs or get divorced. 50 years before that, well, in 1911 the KKK was active, homosexuals apparently didn’t exist at all, and women couldn’t vote or show their ankles. Going by that timetable, I’ll be expecting myself to attend a gay wedding in my home state of Texas and I’ll arrive there in a goddamn hover wheelchair.

Haha! :) I just got into the fandom about a week ago! I honestly spent my whole life avoiding Star Trek… and then… my neighbor made me watch an episode of TOS, and I immediately saw the Spock/Kirk, and fell in love with them and the cast!

omg, are you me? I grew up with TNG and I always associated all of Star Trek with it. I remember it came on after other good shows and that’s when I knew it was time for bed because tv officially got boring. I mean, later on I knew intellectually about Kirk/Spock starting fandom, but never really investigated. To make things even more batshit, I had a livejournal friend who made K/S vids (this was when I first got an lj, in 2006) and I even watched one and didn’t see anything interesting except some old tv show with two old dudes and didn’t even connect fully that it was Star Trek.) Also, I watched Heroes and Sylar was my favorite character. Then of the course STXI came around and FINALLY the universe granted me eyes to see with.

Also, your neighbor obviously deserves an award of some kind.

I’m glad you approve my late-night geekiness! :D Our minds are one. I have good memories of the movie, my sister all in love with it and our VHS copy always unwatchable until about 5 minutes in from that static it gets and you have to use a ‘tracking’ button. Damn I feel old and really I’m not. :/

Upon reflection, I left out a lot anyway because if I kept in friendshippy stuff, then it’d be the Gone with the Wind of slash compilations, but some things really should have been kept in that I forgot.

Tumblr savior blocks posts you don’t want to see. You edit the list yourself (I have firefox so it’s a little more complicated whereas I hear Chrome does it easier) and you add tags to block. For example, I have ‘thor’ blocked because I haven’t seen the movie and don’t want to be spoiled or see stuff from it all the time, so any time someone uses that tag, it blocks it. It was a lifesaver when people kept posting spoilery X-Men stuff.

You can get it by searching ‘tumblr savior’ for whatever browser you use on google.

You don’t have to obviously because if I don’t like it I can unfollow, I just wanted to say that it certainly is helpful to me and others when you tag. Not only does it save me from posts I’m not interested in (thus me not getting annoyed and wanting to unfollow based on one unfortunate spam), it also makes me interested. For example, if I’ve never heard of the tv show/movie/actor/book/whatever you’ve posted and there’s no tag or hint in the post where it comes from, chances are I’ll skim right past it and never care enough to ask. I mean, I got assimilated into Teenage Dream because lamamama posted about it all the time and I finally saw it just to satisify my curiosity, so I really do pay attention to new things.  I only add stuff to tumblr savior that I’ve already tried and decidedly don’t care to know more about, so tagging just helps me in all ways.
